Rules and Regulations

Please Read The Following Carefully:

The team Captain of every team must register their team on registration day either at Blanco's Grill or at the Port O'Connor Community Center.

Note: Anybody fishing past 9 miles from shore is in federal waters and requires a shark permit for big fish. This permit can be acquired by calling 888-872-8862.
  1. Any team that was not properly registered will be withdrawn from the tournament. (Must be a minimum of 2 no more than 6 registered fishermen per team).
  2. Only one team is allowed to fish out of each boat. Wade fishing is acceptable; for safety reasons your partner must be within talking distance.
  3. Each team must have a team Captain; sportsmanship, courtesy, safety, and conservation are expected from each participant.
  4. All fishermen will fish with rod and reel only and live or artificial bait is acceptable.
  5. Any fish, which does not meet legal minimum or is over the legal maximum size, will be grounds for removal of the team from the tournament.
  6. Boats must be a minimum of 14 feet long. (The tournament directors highly recommend that kill switches be connected and U.S. Coast Guard approved life jackets be worn while main engine is running.)
  7. Guides or Charter Boats may be used during the tournament; however, the guides' catch may not be used for the weigh-in or any prize.
  8. First through fifth places for largest fish in each category: redfish (20" - 28" and tagged), speckled trout, flounder, kingfish, red snapper, sheephead & ling.
  9. In addition, there will be two places paid for the biggest fish (i.e. shark, ray, etc.) and also be one place paid for the largest hardhead/gafftop. Ties will be broken by which team weighs-in the earliest.
  10. Each team can win only one category and place in only one other category, a total of two places per team.
