Dear Oilfield Helping Hands family and visitors:
I hope that your last year was everything you and your loved ones had hoped for. My family and I wish you a safe and prosperous 2012.
If and when you have been in our oil and gas industry long enough, you will find it can demand a lot from you and your family over your tenure. Challenges are thrown at you every day, some greater than others. Unlike other industries in our nation that are drying up, once-in-a-lifetime opportunities are out there to be had in ours. One of the life lessons learned in the oil patch is that if you ever get offered a position to better yourself, you take it.
On that note – in December 2011, the OHH Board of Directors voted me the new two-year term president. This is one of two highest honors I have ever been nominated for, much less voted for and elected to in my life. Both honors came through volunteering to help others in my industry. Just being requested to be nominated is an honor. This was my “once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”
I joined Oilfield Helping Hands as a volunteer in September of 2008, by the invite from an industry friend that had been involved. I came to a monthly luncheon and was hooked on the organization at the conclusion of the meeting. I participated whenever my schedule would allow from that point to now. Being an OHH volunteer coordinator for the annual events allowed me to meet all the active volunteer members and many of their spouses and children. The power of our industry is hard work, clean pay, family values and unity, good work ethics and compassion for others. Each year each fund-raising event is more exciting and prosperous than the previous.
Our OHH family of volunteers all consider ourselves blessed that we have like-minded individuals in our energy industry. Good people, representing a good industry and good companies. Every day people and workers with the compassion to help oilfield families that have fallen on difficult times and need a hand up in financial assistance and moral support from the active OHH members. The greatest stewardship our organization's members can share is through their active membership, allowing them to sponsor a family in need.
Register online for our monthly meetings and fund-raising activates. We have five annual functions to be active in and be a part of, as a volunteer, participant with a team or as a corporate sponsor. We collect classic cars, ride motorcycles, have field shooting events in the spring and fall, fish and golf, so there is something for everyone.
Play a bigger part in our oil &gas Industry. If you have any time to share or spare, you can help us with a helping hand to our families in need.
Thanks and hope to see you at our future meetings and events.
Jim Boeker
2012-2013 President
